Sustainability at Unity Coffee
At Unity Coffee, sustainability isn't just a buzzword — it’s part of every step we take, from sourcing green coffee to packing your orders with care in our Lisbon roastery.
Smarter green coffee storage
Portugal’s humid climate demands better protection for green beans. That’s why we don’t use traditional jute bags. Instead, we choose:
- hermetically sealed to prevent mold and moisture contamination during transport and storage.
- vacuum-packed bags (20–30 kg) – to lock in freshness and protect quality before roasting.
All our green coffee is stored in a climate-controlled warehouse, ensuring temperature and humidity stay stable year-round.

A Focus on Organic Practices
Whenever possible, we seek out organically grown coffees, including our decaf offerings. These beans come from farms that avoid synthetic pesticides or fertilizers — instead, relying on traditional compost and natural cycles to nourish the soil.

Direct Trade Relationships
We believe in transparent and fair sourcing. Some of our coffees, like our Brazil Chapada, come to us through direct trade relationships — built on trust, shared values, and regular communication with the farms themselves. This approach helps ensure better income for producers and consistent quality for you.
Roasted and Packed by Hand
Every bag of coffee you receive was personally handled by our roasting master. From roasting to packaging, it’s all done by hand, in small batches, with the same care and attention we put into sourcing the beans.
We know that sustainability is a journey. We're not perfect, but we’re committed to continuous improvement — reducing waste, sourcing better, and supporting producers who care as much about the land as they do about the coffee itself.
