Macucane represents the exceptional quality and dedication of Nicaraguan coffee craftsmanship, sourced from the renowned Nueva Segovia region. This exceptional lot is produced through a family-owned exporter led by two sisters who have carried forward their family's coffee legacy into the third generation, embodying a commitment to transparency and socially responsible farming practices.

The coffee showcases a remarkable complexity with tasting notes of red fruits, berries, tropical and stone fruits, complemented by herbal undertones and hints of raisins, cocoa, and honey. Processed using traditional methods including careful cherry sorting by ripeness and outdoor drying with the specialized "sleeping bag" technique, Macucane achieves an impressive cupping score of 86 points. This meticulously crafted coffee reflects the passionate dedication of Nicaraguan farmers and their commitment to building lasting relationships throughout the global coffee community, delivering not just exceptional flavor but also a story of family heritage and sustainable farming practices.

Nicaraguan Cold Brew with Lemon and Simple Syrup

Ingredients (for ~500 ml of finished drink):

  • Freshly ground coffee (Nicaragua, light or medium roast) — 33 g
  • Filtered cold water — 500 ml
  • Simple syrup (1:1) — 20–30 ml (to taste)
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice — 10–15 ml (to taste)
  • Ice — for serving
  • (Optional) Lemon zest or mint — for garnish

Brew Ratio:

Coffee : Water = 1:15

→ 33 g of coffee per 500 ml of water (or, for example, 50 g per 750 ml if you're making a larger batch)
