SL14 and SL28 varieties, grown at 1,700 m.a.s.l. in the Rwenzori Mountains. Processed as natural — cherries are dried whole, which gives the cup its characteristic fruit-forward body. Bukonzo Dream is named after the Bakonzo people, the tribe whose farmers grow this coffee on the mountain slopes. The name traces back to a washing station manager from the Bakonzo tribe who wanted to see their coffee roasted and enjoyed beyond Uganda.

Agri Evolve was founded in 2016 by Johnny Rowland in Uganda's Rwenzori Mountains. The company started as a single collection point — paying farmers fair market prices and, crucially, paying on time. That reliability built the trust needed to expand. Processing infrastructure came next, and export profits were reinvested into training, equipment, and facilities for the farmers who supply them.
Today, Agri Evolve works with over 23,000 registered smallholder farmers across a 200 km stretch of the Rwenzoris. Their Nyabirongo Processing Station, completed in 2022, handles both natural and washed processing on-site. The company distributes shade trees, coffee seedlings, and energy-efficient stoves to farming households, and earned B Corp certification in 2023.

Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda

The Rwenzori Mountains run along Uganda's western border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, rising to elevations between 1,500 and 2,300 meters. Volcanic soils, steady rainfall, and cool highland temperatures make the range one of Uganda's strongest environments for Arabica coffee.

Most Ugandan coffee is processed as natural, and the Rwenzoris produce some of the country's best. Around 45,000 smallholder farms dot the slopes, most of them family-run plots. SL14 and SL28 are the dominant varieties here — both well suited to the altitude and known for sweetness, full body, and ripe fruit character that natural processing brings out further.
